Is Biocoral ® biologically active?
Yes. Biocoral® induces a specific biological activity in the recipient bone. Experiments have demonstrated prompt formation of bone adjacent to the Biocoral® implant and an attraction of the osteogenic cells, enhancing bone neoformation.


Does the implantation of Biocoral® cause intolerance or rejection ?
No. Biocoral® biocompatibility at short, medium or long term has been demonstrated in tests realized in vitro and in vivo and confirmed in all the human clinical indications for bone regeneration.
Biocoral® has been tested in tissues other than bone, including subcutaneous, intramuscular, perivascular, perinervous, and palatine fibromucous tissues.
No reactions of intolerance, rejection or encapsulation have been noted.
Is there any risk of pathogen transmission by Biocoral® ?
No. The coral, rough material, does not present any risk of viral or prion contamination and the treatment during the biomaterial preparation then the sterilization after double packaging guaranty the safety.
The group of experts of the French Microbiology Security gave a positive advice for the product and the related ministry confirmed this advice by officially authorizing the use of the biomaterial under the agreement N° 98.0901R01.
Can Biocoral® be remodeled during surgery?
Yes. Adaptation of shapes and sizes can be performed using diamond-edged cutting or drilling instruments.


Is Biocoral® visible on radiographs?
Yes. Its mineral density makes it radiopaque, giving a denser image than that of cortical bone. The image will disappear with the replacement of Biocoral® by the newly formed bone.
What is the sterilization process used for Biocoral® ?
Biocoral® is sterilized by beta ionizing radiation.

What is the shelf life of Biocoral® ?
5 years after the sterilization date.


What are the Biocoral® storage conditions ?
Store the product in its sterile packaging at room temperature.
